What is required to earn the GRI designation?

A total of 60 hours of coursework is required. You must meet minimum requirements in six categories. All coursework must be taken through the Illinois REALTORS® Licensing & Training Center except the ePro designation course. All coursework must be completed in less than 5 years. You must earn at least a 70% passing score on each course exam.

When you have completed all 60 hours, submit the GRI Designation Request Form


CATEGORY 1: GRI Prerequisites (30 hours required) 

CATEGORY 2: GRI Mandatory Courses  (12 hours required)  

CATEGORY 3: Ethics Courses (3 hours required)

CATEGORY 4: Client Systems Courses (6 hours required)

CATEGORY 5: Finance Courses (3 hours required)

CATEGORY 6: Technology Courses (6 hours required)

 


AnchorCATEGORY 1: GRI Prerequisites (30 hours required)

OPTION 1: Broker Post-License Package (30 hours)  

OPTION 2: Managing Broker Pre-License Package (30 hours)

Note: Managing Brokers are required to take 45 hours, but only 30 hours of credit will be applied toward GRI.

OPTION 3:  Proficiency Exam

OPTION 4: Equivalency Application

AnchorCATEGORY 3: Ethics Courses (3 hours required)

  • Any ethics course taken through the Illinois REALTORS® Licensing & Training Center and its branches will satisfy the GRI requirement.

 Ethics Quadannual / Biannual cycles do NOT apply to this GRI requirement. 

ETH 1507 Social Media Ethics may be applied to either the Ethics or Technology category requirements, but not both.
