REALTOR® Redefined: Illinois Association of REALTORS® to hold Fall Conference & Expo in St. Charles, Oct. 2-4
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — REALTORS® and other real estate professionals from throughout Illinois will gather for professional development and networking on Oct. 2-4, 2012, at the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) Fall Conference and Expo at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles.
Themed “REALTOR® Redefined,” this year’s conference will offer REALTORS® the opportunity to reengage, reconnect and retool with informational sessions on viral marketing, tools for setting the right listing price, tips for choosing a mobile device and the latest short sale trends. REALTORS® will also have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits with targeted courses on the legal issues of residential leasing and a comprehensive review of Illinois real estate property taxes and the right to appeal.
“During the IAR Fall Conference and Expo, Illinois REALTORS® will have the chance to learn more about new educational and training strategies that will help them in their business, see some of the latest technology and industry tools and network with their peers from around the state,” said IAR President Loretta Alonzo, CRB, GRI, Broker-Owner of Century 21 Alonzo & Associates in La Grange Park.
In the opening session, REALTOR® Brian Copeland will share strategies for building your online presence through viral marketing in the session, “Viral.” Copeland has built one of the most successful home marketing companies in middle Tennessee and was named to the 2012 Inman Innovator List for most innovative franchise. He will be joined by Matt Dollinger, head of industry relations for Trulia, who will review the best tools for engaging with today’s sellers in the session, “The Right Tools for the Right Price.”

REALTORS® can earn up to six hours of continuing education (CE) credit toward their licensing requirements with two CE classes. Real estate tax attorney and instructor Anastasia Poulopoulos and instructor Eric Westberg will outline the purpose of real estate property taxes in Illinois and the process for appealing taxes in the course, “Real Estate Property Tax Reduction in Illinois,” on Oct. 3 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Industry trainer Lynn Madison will review the proper representation of landlords and tenants in residential leasing transactions in her course, “Legal Issues: Residential Leasing” on Oct. 4 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Real estate industry vendors will showcase their products and services in a state-of-the-art trade expo. Hours for the expo are 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 4. A Virtual Expo is now available on the IAR website, www.illinoisrealtor.org/conference/expo.
Inaugural gala activities include a reception and dinner in honor of the incoming 2013 IAR officers. The incoming officers are: President Michael D. Advance registration before Sept. 19 is $135 for members and $175 for non-members. Walk-in registration for the full conference is $145 for members and $175 for non-members. Walk-in, one-day registration is $105 for members and $115 for non-members and trade show-only registration is $40.
