Illinois saw a 2 percent drop in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the fourth quarter of 2012 and was 5 percent lower than a year ago, according to RealtyTrac. But Illinois' foreclosure rate remains high, ranking third in the nation. Read a news release from RealtyTrac.
The timeline for a U.S. foreclosure to be completed hit a record average of 477 days in the first quarter of 2013. In Illinois, the average timeline was 720 days, RealtyTrac reports.
