Statewide home sales totaled 12,621, a 25.3 percent jump compared to last year and the strongest April showing since 2007, according to the latest IAR home sales report. The Chicagoland area and the city of Chicago also saw double-digit sales increases in April and median prices also rose. Nationally, April existing-home sales also increased slightly but are being constrained by limited inventory and tight credit, NAR reports.
