The Power of R: Illinois Association of REALTORS® to hold Fall Conference & Expo in St. Charles, Oct. 1-3
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — REALTORS® and other real estate professionals from throughout Illinois will gather for professional development and networking on Oct. 1-3, 2013, at the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) Fall Conference and Expo at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Ill.
With the theme of “The Power of R,” this year’s conference celebrates the power of the REALTOR® family, education, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) and the RVOICE advocacy program during a three-day education and networking conference. Hundreds of Illinois REALTORS® from throughout the state will learn how to get more out of mobile technology, find tips for going paperless, talk about the social business of real estate and look ahead at what may be in store for the housing market and the broader economy in 2014. REALTORS® will also have the opportunity to get an update on the legal issues and trends affecting the real estate industry today.
“The IAR Fall Conference and Expo is a great opportunity for Illinois REALTORS® to educate themselves on the latest trends and issues affecting their business and learn new strategies they can take home to help their clients. During the three-day conference they can also network with their industry peers from around the state and see new technology and marketing tools at the trade expo,” said IAR President Michael D. Oldenettel, CRS, GRI, Managing Broker-Owner with RE/MAX Results Plus in Jacksonville, Ill.
This year’s keynote speaker is economist John Tuccillo, a noted real estate strategist and a former chief economist for the National Association of REALTORS®. Tuccillo will be taking a look ahead with his session, “Housing and the Economy: A First Look at 2014.” He will cover the prospects for the coming year and the opportunities and issues facing the industry.

REALTORS® can earn up to six hours of continuing education (CE) credit toward their licensing requirements with two CE classes. REALTOR® and attorney Bruce Aydt will provide an overview on fair housing and other issues in his course, “Fair Housing, Agency, License Law & Escrow 3.0,” from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 2. Tax expert Chris Bird will offer an overview of tax changes impacting the industry in his course, “What’s Congress Up To? How Changing Federal Tax Laws Impact Your Clients and the Real Estate Professional,” from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 3.
Real estate industry vendors will showcase products and services in a trade expo. Hours for the expo are 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 2, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 3. A Virtual Expo is now available on the IAR website, www.illinoisrealtor.org/fallconference-expo.
Inaugural gala activities include a reception and dinner in honor of the incoming 2014 IAR officers. The incoming officers are: President Phil Chiles, ABR, CRS, GRI, SRES, broker-associate with The Real Estate Group in Springfield; President-Elect Jim Kinney, ABR, CRB, CRS, GRI, vice-president of luxury home sales for Baird & Warner in Chicago; and Treasurer Mike Drews, broker-associate with Charles B. Doss and Company REALTORS® in Oswego.

Walk-in registration for the full conference is $145 for members and $175 for non-members. One-day registration is $105 for members and $115 for non-members and trade show-only registration is $40.
